Synopsis of “The Deadline”
It’s a gloomy, ordinary Monday afternoon. Ahmed is waiting for Ali on the "high school musical" steps at Sidney Stringer Academy. Ahmed and Ali have planned to do their media coursework together however, the media coursework deadline is thought to be at 2pm that day.
Meanwhile, Ali is waiting at the bus stop. The bus is late and he is becoming fed up with waiting, so he decides to run to school; it is a long way. Finally, Ali arrives to school with only 10 minutes left for them to do the work before the deadline ends. Ahmed is fuming and he and Ali argue which subsequently leads to Ahmed slapping Ali.
After Ali and Ahmed come to their senses, they agree that they should visit their teacher and come clean about the lack of work they’ve done and missing the deadline. They meet the teacher, who informs them that the deadline has been extended and if they had not been coming late to lessons they would know this.
Ali and Ahmed felt stupid but relieved at the same time.
